Premarital Coaching Packages
Getting married will likely be one of the most exciting, transformational times of your life as you each step across a major life threshold into this special union. Most engaged couples are so excited about their wedding that most of their time and energy goes toward planning the ceremony and party and not toward building relationship skills. It is much easier to focus on checking off concrete tasks than sharing all your feelings and concerns, continuing to reveal yourself to your partner as you navigate your way towards marriage. While your wedding will last a day, the relationship you are committing to is for a lifetime; premarital coaching is the best thing you can invest in for your future happiness.
I have two options for couples, and each include education on helpful language and terminology that reflects emotions, ego states, and deeper needs and yearnings that show up in relationships, as well as the principles for successful marriages and attributes that lead to divorce. With both options you can expect to learn how to communicate what you feel, want and need as I hold space for you to bring up things that may be difficult to talk about on your own. Expect to leave the sessions with new tools to use the day of your wedding and throughout your relationship.
OPTION 1: 8-SESSION PREPARE/ENRICH COUPLES COACHING PACKAGE FOR $1600*
Prepare/Enrich is the most widely researched assessment tool for couples that reduces the chance for divorce by 30%, and more than 5 million couples across the country have prepared for their marriage with this tool. The assessment is customized for each couple for factors like age, religion, cultural differences, whether you have kids, want kids, or have been married before. You will receive a report sharing your couple type and satisfaction level which provides a focus for your work, as well as letting you know just how much you each view your relationship through rose-colored glasses as you head to the altar! Your report will share your strengths and opportunities for growth in the areas of communication, conflict resolution, lifestyle habits, financial management, leisure activities, sexual intimacy, relationship roles, parenting and spiritual beliefs.
Session 1: You will take the assessment before our first session, then I will give you the overall feedback from the assessment as we clarify your vision and goals for the coaching package. You’ll have your own copy of the results to reference, and I’ll have a more thorough report to interpret and help you understand. Couples are usually not too surprised with their feedback but are grateful to have the information written out in black and white, knowing that they have a partner to help them explore new ways of relating, planning and preparing for their big day and beyond. Our first session is also a time to underline what is working well in the relationship.
Sessions 2-7: We will go through each of the areas, picking areas to focus on based on the results you want to achieve. I hold a space of flexibility to see what emerges in each session as we discuss the results and I facilitate conversation. The beautiful thing about the coaching process is that things will come up naturally that needed to be brought to the surface, simply by having intention and the space of the sessions. See Option 1 for areas that get covered in the couples coaching process as these are core for couples and I make sure to cover these areas as we go.
Session 8: Summarize how you’ve grown through the coaching process, clarify what tools you have learned, develop a plan to continue to use the tools, and solidify the vision you have for your relationship. Option to have the 8th session a month after the wedding. Couples (more often brides) get post-wedding blues
*Option 1 includes the $35 Prepare/Enrich Assessment, a $30 Personality Assessment for each person, and the $20 Prepare/Enrich Workbook for couples with activities, exercises and homework to do between our sessions.
OPTION 2: 4-SESSION COACHING PACKAGE FOR $800*
Session 1: The couple meets with me to assess the relationship’s current state. We will answer questions like: What brought you here? What are your strengths as a couple and what is working well? What are some areas you haven’t addressed yet but know you want or need to? Where are the areas of most conflict and what isn’t working so well? Life areas we can cover include: communication style, personality style similarities and differences (if you want to take the personality assessment offered), finance, lifestyle, intimacy, household duties, spiritual or religious beliefs. I will also provide feedback and useful information based on a personality assessment. You’ll be creating a vision for yourselves as a couple that will also support you as you write your vows.
Sessions 2 and 3: These are individual sessions with me and each member of the couple. We will explore the first place you learned about relationships: your family of origin. We will do a light assessment of roles you played in your family, communication patterns, attachment style, and identify core beliefs about marriage, relationships and intimacy. We will also explore which patterns you want to shift from your experience growing up, and which ones you want to keep.
Session 4: The couple meets with me again to harness learning from the individual sessions and define your ideal state as a couple. We will name action steps that will support you after our sessions, both for the wedding, and into your first year of marriage. You will also create a vision for your marriage and home life together. This is a time to be tender and gentle with each other as you navigate this next big phase of your lives. Planning a wedding is a time when feelings surface and you may see increased fighting; we can also address fighting patterns and how to get to what each of you really need underneath the fight.
*Option 2 price includes $30 Personality Assessment for each person and the option to add on additional coaching sessions if needed including the Prepare/Enrich assessment for an additional $35 + $190 each additional session
